THE HOARD HISTORICAL MUSEUM & NATIONAL DAIRY SHRINE:
The Fort Atkinson Historical Society was chartered in 1939 for the purpose of collecting, preserving and interpriting the history of Fort Atkinson and nearby communities. In 1956 generous donation of the Frank and Luella Hoard home by their two children made possible the current Hoard Historical Museum. Since acquiring the property the Historical Society has overseen a number of aditions to the original home. Now operated jointly by the city of Fort Atkinson and the Fort Atkinson Historical Society, The Hoard Museum houses 16 exhibit rooms, ranging from period display to modern exhibits. Exhibits include:

JONES DAIRY FARM:
One of Fort's best kept secrets is located in this out-of-the-way retail store where juicy pork tenderloins and old-fashioned country hams can be purchsed at discount prices. One block off Hwy 26, across from Jones Park.
JEFFERSON COUNTY INDIAN MOUNDS AND TRAIL PARK:
Eleven mounds in this park have been left relatively undistrubed for the last 1,500 years. A walk along the trail provides a glimpse of the sacred traditions of the pre-historic Indians that once inhabited the banks of Lake Koshkonong.
ROCK RIVER CANOE CO:
Located on the riverwalk in historic downtown Fort Atkinson, rent a canoe or kayak and spend the afternoon on the Rock River. Available for puchase are custom-built boats, outdoor equipment and other unique gifts. Bikes are also available to rent for a ride around town or on local bike trails.
RIVERWALK:
Stroll along the Rock River on Fort's newly constructed riverwalk. With access from Main on Water Streets, take a scenic walk after shopping or eating in our downtown district. Or, simply take a break on the benches and enjoy the beautiful landscaping along the river.
THE CAFE CARPE:
The Cafe Carpe is a restaurant, bar, and music club in downtown Fort Atkinson, a city of 12,000 in southeastern Wisconsin-35 miles southeast of Madison, 60 miles southwest of Milwaukee, 20 miles northeast of Janesville. Fort Atkinson is noted for being the birthplace of Peter Urban and onetime hom eto Jeffrey Foucault, the place where he cut home of his musical teeth.
The carpe has a talk-free, smoke-free listening room separate from its main bar-dining area. The room, which has great acoustics, seats 60 people comfortably but can hold 70 people. Shows are primarily on the weekend nights, and there is a cover charge for all performances except the periodic open stages.
